Hero Hustle 5K to raise awareness about organ donation this year is virtual

Life Connection of Ohio and Community Tissue Services are proud to present the seventh annual Hero Hustle 5K as a virtual event this year!

Life Connection of Ohio, the organization that promotes and facilitates organ donation in northwest Ohio, and Community Tissue Services, the organization that facilitates tissue donation in northwest Ohio, are partnering together again for this awareness event. In an effort to protect the health and safety of our participants, we have decided to have our first-ever all-virtual event this year. The mission of the Hero Hustle 5K remains the same: To strengthen support, education and recognition of organ, eye and tissue donation in northwest Ohio. At last year’s Hero Hustle 5K, we welcomed more than 1,300 participants, and we hope to grow the event even more virtually!

Registration for the Hero Hustle 5K is a special price of $8.75 this year in celebration of the 8 lives that can be saved through organ donation and the 75 lives that can be healed through tissue donation. That money goes right back into the hands of the participants through a t-shirt and finisher dog tag. There are also K9 hero kits for the dogs available for free while supplies last. Online registration at www.davesraces.com is open through November 14.

This awareness event couldn’t come at a more crucial time. Currently, there are more than 110,000 people on the national transplant waiting list, including 3,000 Ohioans. Sadly, 20 people die every day waiting for an organ transplant. The good news: One person has the power to save up to 8 lives through organ donation and heal 75 more through tissue donation.
